Promoting early relationships birth to five
As of October 2016, the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health® (The Alliance) is a global organization that includes 26 state infant mental health associations and one international association.
These 26 state infant mental health associations and the international association have licensed the use of the Competency Guidelines® and/or the Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health®. Each state association is a member of The Alliance for the Advancement for Infant Mental Health®.
With the growth in programs serving infants, very young children, and their families, the need for professionals competent in the application of infant mental health principles is expanding and critical. Programs in need of infant mental health-informed professionals include all home visiting programs, Early Head Start and Head Start, Part C programs, child welfare, Safe Babies Court Teams & other baby courts, health and behavioral health, early childhood mental health consultation, and infant mental health treatment services. Within each state these programs are growing and engaging more and more infants and families who face multiple challenges.
